Aboriginal Headstart
Prince Rupert Aboriginal Headstart (AHS) is a licensed preschool that is dedicated to the cultural needs of Prince Rupert and Port Edward children, with a focus on our Indigenous communities.
The program helps prepare children of Indigenous ancestry for elementary school, while also teaching them about their culture and language.
Aboriginal Justice
The Aboriginal Justice Initiative was established to consider and address the over-representation of Aboriginal people in conflict with the law.
It enables Aboriginal communities to have increased involvement in the local administration of justice and, where appropriate, provides alternatives to mainstream justice processes.
Better at Home
The Better at Home program was designed to assist seniors with simple day-to-day activities so they can continue to live in their own homes. This community-based program is administered by United Way in BC and funded through the Government of BC.
Patient Travel
The First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) Medical Transportation Policy Framework (MTPF) is administered by our patient travel clerks who allocate funding and coordinate medical travel for our eligible clients.
Their aim is to ensure that our clients receive the benefits to which they are entitled, as defined under the MTPF.
Reaching Home
The Government of Canada’s Reaching Home: Homelessness Initiative is a community-based program that helps meet the needs of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis people who are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of homelessness.
